Mikko Vuorela Exceptional menu, 11 courses, not too pricey for the amount and quality of food. Louder near the bar area but we got a nice cozy side from the back side. Not too loud not too crowded. Service was really good, cocktails were nice and it was nice to have sommelier recommended wines as a half package.
Max Griss It was a coincidence that I visited this restaurant exactly at the moment when true Finnish rainy and gloomy autumn came to Finland and I didn’t want to let the summer go away. The Boon Nam team managed to prolong my summer mood for at least one evening. They honestly did it! Thai cuisine is really versatile, rich in flavours and has slight citrus-coconut shades which make it so “summer” and unique. I really like the concept of a “long” menu which helps you dive into Thai cuisine completely and leaves some pleasant aftertaste. I got real pleasure from spending my evening in this restaurant. Cozy atmosphere, good service, bright and interesting menu.
Franciska Szucs We tried the boon nam vegetarian tasting menu and it was better than I expected. The Chili Jam sweetheart cabbage and the roasted tomato salad and the tempeh were superb. The flavour were there and it was a good culinary journey. My biggest issue was the service, several waitress serving and we got fish sauce with the vegetarian menu, it was just a mess. I also had to ask for the menu card because that was also forgotten. There wasn’t any system. Every single time we had someone else serving, from a price range like this it would be expected to provide a higher quality service… that would really add to the experience. This place had better food than the sister restaurant Lilly Lee but the service was much worse even though there was some waitress who knew what they were doing but it was just chaotic since we didn’t really have one waitress but like 5…Cocktails were just fine. Drinks list good, there are plenty of options for good wine.I am rating the food 4 stars, the service was like maybe 2.
Oluwaseun Adewumi The food was delicious and luxury. The service was excellent and customer satisfaction oriented. It was an amazing experience. I recommend although it will cost you some 😉
Majidah Maruan We picked our own fare from the ala carte menu. Came in telling ourselves to experience Finnish- Thai food with an open mind. They have their take on the dishes which we shall not compare to ”what it should taste like” but whether the dish itself was presented and served in the most delicious way possible. Truthfully, some dishes fell slightly short: the coconut bread was not coconutty, instead tasted like a normal bread roll smelled more like yeast and flour instead of a smoky coconut husk aroma or tasting some coconut shreds- then their somtam which is not in the picture, i think is catered for the Finnish taste buds, not spicy even for the 3 Finns with me at the table, but I would recommend it for someone else who cant handle heat. The stars were definitely the duck jungle curry and the grilled beef. The curry has punchy flavours although the shrimp paste was a little on the overload side- i notice as my nose started to itch but eaten with rice and other dishes, the flavours synchronized. The grilled beef was perfectly made and paired with the green mango salad and sauces. That salad would have been a better choice than the somtam but now we know really fine flavours on that balancing sweet and sour and smoky from the grill beef. The vegetables were stir fried chinese spinach, the sauce was really good, not the usual garlic oyster sauce stir fry, some coconut milk flavours came thru- and some sambal mixed in. Good combo.Desserts were wonderful, we had the jackfruit and kopi, grilled pineapple with lime and their take on a frozen snickers😁 cant remember the names but now u know where to get really good dessert tasting like smooth snickers👍🏻👍🏻But always, with great company so it was a marvelous evening💗Service wise I wish it was more meticulous but it was the weekend, waited quite a while for table to be cleared and wine glasses we didnt use were on the table the entire time. Overall, it was a bustling enviroment and mimicked well the restaurant enviroments in south east asia, enjoyed the ambience.
Katie P Very nice Thai fusion cuisine with good location in the center of Helsinki. We shared starters and main courses, mainly sea food and fish, and all we tried were nicely presented as well as tasty. The restaurant has nice ambience too and good wine list. I can warmly recommend to try. This time I forgot to take pictures, but all portions were beautiful too.
Joonas Tammisto Great and tasty thai inspired food, friendly service and great wines and cocktails. Only downside was that iberico was too overcooked and littlebit dry for my taste.
